Forward2026 LMU Homecoming CME: Urgent Issues in Primary Care
This 4-hour CME course is being held in conjunction with LMU's annual Homecoming celebration. The course will take place Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. eastern time via Zoom. All presentations will be recorded and available to view on-demand online for one month following the live program.

Evaluation of Pediatric Fever | Angela Cope, DO'15, FAAP
Dr. Angela Cope is a board-certified pediatrician and 2015 graduate of LMU-DCOM. Dr. Cope is a pediatric faculty member at Children's of Alabama and serves as Assistant Medical Director of the UAB Pediatric Primary Care Clinic. She is also a member of the Clinical Competency Committee for the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Cope is passionate about providing exceptional care to children and families while educating and mentoring the next generation of pediatricians.

Urology for the Busy Primary Care Physician and Updates in Urology | Michael Douglas, DO'12
Dr. Michael Douglas received his medical degree from LMU-DCOM in Harrogate, Tennessee, in 2012. He completed a urologic surgery internship at UMDNJ-Kennedy University Hospital, followed by his urologic surgery residency at Rowan University in Stratford, New Jersey (now Jefferson Health-New Jersey). He is board-certified in urology and currently practices at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. He is the immediate past president of the Tennessee Osteopathic Medical Association and serves on multiple professional committees and boards, including recently being nominated by Governor Bill Lee to the Tennessee Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners. Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time outdoors with his family and playing tennis.

Mark Gustafson, DO'12, FACEP | Chest Pain Emergencies in the Primary Care Office: Who Can Stay, Who Must Go?
Dr. Mark Gustafson earned his medical degree from LMU-DCOM in 2012. He completed his residency in emergency medicine at Charleston Area Medical Center (CAMC) in 2016, serving as chief resident during his final year. Following residency, he joined the CAMC Emergency Medicine faculty, served as associate program director from 2018-202, and as program director from 202-2026. In 2025, he was appointed associated designated institutional official for the CAMC Institute for Academic Medicine and Vice Chair of Education for the Department of Emergency Medicine at CAMC. Dr. Gustafson is board-certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine. He has held numerous leadership roles in graduate medical education, including serving as Chair of the CAMC Special Review Committee and Chair of the Graduate Medical Education Committee. At the state level, he is a past president and past board member of the West Virginia Chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians. Nationally, he serves on the CORD Remediation Committee and the ACEP Academic Affairs Committee, and represents West Virginia in the national ACEP Council. His academic interests include graduate medical education, feedback and assessment, mentorship, resident wellness, and simulation-based education. He is an active researcher and reviewer for several peer-reviewed journals, with scholarly work focused on medical education, simulation, feedback, remediation, and faculty development.
