Forward4th Friday Preceptor Development - The Five Models Made Practical: Teaching Osteopathic Students in Any Clinical Setting
The 4th Friday Preceptor Development Series provides regular programming for LMU-DCOM preceptors working with 3rd and 4th year students on clinical rotations. This series of one hour virtual sessions s designed to provide regular preceptor development programming to address ongoing preceptor needs.

Learning Objectives
- Describe the Five Models of Osteopathic Care and their role in guiding osteopathic clinical reasoning and patient-centered care.
- Apply the Five Models of Osteopathic Care to identify opportunities for osteopathic medical students to incorporate osteopathic principles and osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT) into common clinical encounters.
- Demonstrate effective precepting strategies that encourage osteopathic students to explain their clinical reasoning, perform an osteopathic structural examination when appropriate, and integrate osteopathic principles into evidence-based care.

Paula M. Archer, DO is associate dean of osteopathic integration and chair of osteopathic principles and practice at LMU-DCOM. Board-certified in osteopathic neuromusculoskeletal medicine/osteopathic manipulative medicine, she is a national lecturer, educator and researcher whose interests include osteopathic medical education, cranial manipulation, concussion management, and practical, evidence-informed approaches to osteopathic diagnosis and treatment.
