4th Friday Preceptor Development - How Preceptors Impact Residency Applications

The 4th Friday Preceptor Development Series provides regular programming for LMU-DCOM preceptors working with 3rd and 4th year students on clinical rotations. This monthly series of one hour virtual sessions delivered over the noon hour is designed to provide regular preceptor development programming to address ongoing preceptor needs.

LMU-DCOM physician preceptors

Learning Objectives

1. Understand the residency application timeline.

2. Review the clinical rotation evaluation and understand how preceptor comments are used on the student's MSPE.

3. Identify 5 elements of impactful MSPE comments.

4. Discuss letters of recommendation and their impact on residency applications.

5. Identify 6 elements of an impactful letter of recommendation.

Kendall Stagg, MEd | K[email protected]

Kendall Stagg currently serves as the Director of Career Services at LMU-DCOM, where she works closely with medical students on CVs, personal statements, career planning and residency match preparation. Stagg has been with LMU since 2019. Before that, she spent several years in graduate medical education, where she helped launch and manage a family medicine residency program and developed a medical student rotation pipeline. Supporting students as they navigate the many moving parts of their professional journey is something she truly enjoys.

 

The Lincoln Memorial University-DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine (LMU-DCOM) is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians.
