4th Friday Preceptor Development - Panel Discussion: The Challenges of Precepting
The 4th Friday Preceptor Development Series provides regular programming for LMU-DCOM preceptors working with 3rd and 4th year students on clinical rotations. This monthly series of one hour virtual sessions delivered over the noon hour is designed to provide regular preceptor development programming to address ongoing preceptor needs.

Learning Objectives
1. Identify common challenges to precepting students.
2. Identify solutions to precepting challenges and discuss implementation methods.
3. Demonstrate effective strategies for providing constructive feedback to students.
4. Explore methods to promote student engagement and enhance clinical reasoning skills.
5. Discuss approaches to address professionalism concerns and support student development.
Cassi Jones, DO, FACOI
Dr. Cassi Jones is a board-certified internal medicine physician and the associate dean of clinical affairs and an assistant professor of internal medicine at LMU-DCOM. She also is part of the teaching faculty at the Norton Community Hospital Internal Medicine Residency Program in Norton, Virginia. Dr. Jones graduated from Pikeville College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2010 and completed her internal medicine residency at Norton Community Hospital.

Stanley Marlowe, DO, FACOI
Dr. Stan Marlowe is a 2013 graduate of LMU-DCOM. He currently practices in Harlan, Kentucky, after completing his residency in internal medicine at Norton Community Hospital in Norton, Virginia. He has worked closely with medical students since 2015 when he served as the student liaison at NCH. Dr. Marlowe has been the director of student medical education at Harlan ARH since 2017. He currently works as a hospitalist, in the ER, with the IM residency program, and rounds at a local nursing home.

Larry Witmer, DO, FACOFP
Dr. Larry Witmer earned his DO degree from Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens, Ohio, in 1997 and completed his residency at St. John Westshore in Westlake, Ohio. He is a board-certified family medicine physician and serves as the associate program director of family medicine at University Hospitals Community Consortium Geauga Family Medicine Residency. In addition to his clinical and leadership roles, Dr. Witmer is passionate about mentoring students and residents.

The Lincoln Memorial University-DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine (LMU-DCOM) is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians.
