The LMU-College of Dental Medicine and the Integrative Dental Medicine Scholar Society (IDMSS) are partnering to host the first annual Totality of Care Symposium: Reconnecting Medicine and Dentistry.

LMU-CDM and IDMSS offer an unparalleled educational opportunity for medical and dental health care professionals to shape the future of complete patient care. The symposium will unite experts in the fields of medicine, dentistry, nursing, and dental hygiene. Together they will explore scientific and clinical evidence of the connection between oral health and complete health while offering the necessary implementation steps to bridge the gap between medicine and dentistry.

Learning Objectives

Each participant in the 2024 Totality of Care Symposium will be able to:

  • Evaluate when to refer a patient to a dentist for treatment options for both oral-systemic and airway disorders
  • Explain the oral-systemic connection as it relates to multiple systemic conditions by providing examples of its application
  • Discuss tests to utilize in collaboration with dental providers for better patient outcomes
  • Compare and contrast craniofacial growth, airway anatomy, and sleep disordered breathing 
  • Analyze clinical presentation and biomarkers for oral systemic inflammation

All conference activities will take place at the Sevierville Convention Center. A room block is available at the adjacent Wilderness at the Smokies Resort & Waterpark. All presentations will be available to view on-demand online for one month following the conference. These links will be sent to attendees once the conference is completed and the videos have been posted online.

Disclosures for all speakers will be available for inspection at the Office of the LMU-DCOM Director of Alumni Services and CME.

The Lincoln Memorial University-DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine (LMU-DCOM) is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians. LMU-DCOM designates this program for a maximum of 19.5 AOA Category 2-A credits and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician's participation in this activity. The University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine (UNE COM) is accredited by the Maine Medical Association (MMA) Council on Continuing Medical Education and Accreditation to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
