This program will give an overview of early cervical cancer screening methods, history of colposcopy and treatment, and provide novel treatment options leading to the concept of “Diagnose-and-treat,” focusing on advocacy in rural USA.
Target Audience
Physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and professional students.
Learning Objectives
1. Provide an overview of current trends in the science of early cervical cancer screening that will impact cervical cancer nationally and globally in upcoming years of medical practice and knowledge.
2. Distinguish different methods practiced by WHO in LMICs and justify or adopt these methods in rural USA.
3. Create innovative and expansive thinking to identify shortcomings with current approaches and devise devices and methods to improve health care.
Partha Basu, MD
Dr. Partha Basu is the Deputy Head of Early Detection, Prevention and Infection Branch of the International Agency for Research on Cancer/World Health Organization. Dr. Basu received a PhD in clinical oncology from West Bengal University of Health Sciences in India and did post-graduate training at the Imperial College of Medicine in London. Dr. Basu received a MBBS and diploma from Medical College, Calcutta University in India, a MD from Indira Gandhi Medical College, HP University in India, and is a diplomate of the National Board of OBGYN of the National Board of Examinations, New Delhi.

Sudabeh Moein, MD
Dr. Sudabeh Moein is a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist. She received her Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics at UCLA and her medical degree from The Chicago Medical School. She completed her obstetrics & gynecology residency at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.
Dr. Moein has been in private practice for over 20 years in San Diego, California. In addition, for the past 12 years she has traveled internationally to assist universities and medical centers with medical training programs. She has been involved in international research projects and has participated in WHO initiatives.She has dedicated her career to developing solutions for the elimination of cervical cancer. She is the founder and chief medical officer of Moein Health, a company specializing in innovations in women’s health.
Dr. Moein is the founder and CMO of Moein Health, which is considered an ineligible company. CME credit will not be offered for Dr. Moein's portion of the program.
Patricia Smith, MD
Dr. Patricia Smith is originally from Seattle, Washington, where she earned both her undergraduate degree in psychology and her medical degree at the University of Washington. She completed her OB/GYN residency at Harbor-UCLA, then went moved to Houston for her MIGS fellowship at the Women’s Hospital of Texas. Following her fellowship, she was in private practice in Houston for several years, then joined the faculty at the Baylor College of Medicine as a specialist in general OB/GYN. Life took her to the Washington DC, area, where she has been on faculty at the George Washington University School of Medicine for the past decade. She has won a number of resident and medical student teaching awards, including the APGO/CREOG Excellence in Teaching Award. Dr. Smith served as the American College of OB/GYNs DC Section Chair from 2017 - 2020.
