Forward4th Friday Preceptor Development - Can You Hear Me Now? Communication With Millennial and Gen Z Medical Students
The 4th Friday Preceptor Development Series will provide regular programming for LMU-DCOM preceptors working with 3rd and 4th year students on clinical rotations. In the preceptor needs assessment administered in Fall 2021, preceptors self identified several knowledge gaps, including difficulty managing time constraints, understanding the baseline knowledge of students on rotation, knowing what to teach in the office, and knowing how to best communicate with and engage students. This monthly series of one hour virtual sessions delivered over the noon hour is part of a new initiative by LMU-DCOM to provide regular preceptor development programming to address ongoing preceptor needs.

- Reflect on personal medical education history to determine how it impacts current teaching and communication strategies.
- Construct a safe space for teaching, learning and feedback.
- Compare and contrast generational differences in medical training.

Dr. Leah Cobb Snodgrass is a board certified physician in child, adolescent and adult psychiatry who serves as associate professor and chair of behavioral health at LMU-DCOM. She is a graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Medicine and completed her internship, residency and fellowship at Emory University in Atlanta. Dr. Snodgrass is a native of Middlesboro, Kentucky, and has been a member of the LMU-DCOM faculty since 2012. She is the course director for OMS II Behavioral Medicine and Clinical Neurosciences courses and the Rotation Chair for OMS III Behavioral Health.

The Lincoln Memorial University-DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine (LMU-DCOM) is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians.
