Program Description
Many common ENT conditions can be managed at the primary health care level with the potential for decreasing financial burden, reducing referrals, and improving quality and timeliness of care. Using demonstrations, realistic learning experiences, and hands-on skill building techniques, this workshop provides an appreciation of allergy testing, protocols for evaluating hearing loss and dizziness, Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT) and training for in-office flexible nasolaryngoscopy. After completing requirements, attendees may obtain both a continuing medical education (CME) Certificate and the Certificate of Proficiency in flexible nasolaryngoscopy.

Target Audience
Physicians, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, and other health care providers involved in the care of ENT conditions commonly encountered in Primary Care.
Learning Objectives
Through participation in this educational CME workshop, participants will have an opportunity to:
- Identify the patient who may benefit from evaluation and treatment of common ENT conditions including sinusitis, allergies, hearing loss and dizziness.
- Evaluate when to refer a patient to an otolaryngologist (ENT specialist), allergist, audiologist, and OMM specialist for treatment options.
- Define the indications and contraindications for flexible nasolaryngoscopy, allergy testing, hearing/dizziness screening procedures, and OMM/OMT for ENT related issues in the primary care setting.
- Evaluate the efficacy of flexible nasolaryngoscopy as a diagnostic option in the primary care setting.
- Identify the important anatomical landmarks and laryngeal structures seen during the flexible nasolaryngoscopy procedure.
- Achieve familiarity in the use of flexible nasolaryngoscopy and/or proficiency in the flexible nasolaryngoscopy procedure.
- Evaluate the efficacy of Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT) for sinusitis and allergy related issues.
- Identify the role of allergy screening tests as a cost-effective strategy to assess allergy related diseases.
- Assess the efficacy of measurement of hearing loss and dizziness and discuss options for treatment.
- Understand the process for implementing the flexible nasolaryngoscopy procedure in practice including billing, coding and documentation.
